You are most welcome to arrive anytime after 1pm on the
Saturday.
The wedding is scheduled for 2.30.
The Apothecary will be open for pre Wedding cocktails and
snacks from 1pm so you can take a drink and wander around the garden.
The day is set up to have a party/festival atmosphere with
different types of music and other entertainment. Our hope is that you can
relax, enjoy our beautiful garden, have a dance, some food and drink, and generally
mingle and enjoy yourselves.
There will be a tent set up for children with some arts and
crafts to keep them entertained, and also there will be games hidden around the
garden (adults are allowed to play these too!).
If you fancy time away from people there will also be areas
to chill out in, and plenty of corners to hide.
If you play an instrument we would love you to bring it
along; they’ll be jamming/acoustic sessions at the Fire Pit, and Neolithic
Monument- and also some ‘open mic’ sessions at the Monument too- bring your
story telling skills, your poetry, maybe your hula hooping skills….
Apothecary : This is Liza’s inner sanctum (though
there is usually much less alcohol in situ (unfortunately). Here you will find
cocktails, spirits plus mixers, beer, wine, and juices/water. There will be a
tea and coffee station set up in there (or nearby), and some snacks available
to soak up the copious amounts of alcohol… The Apothecary is next to Liza’s Elemental
Garden- a place to relax and enjoy, including the Fire Garden where
there will be a fire pit and jamming sessions all day.
Children’s tent : The bright colourful tent is a
space for children, here there will be games and crafts as well as water and
juice for them. (If you have kids coming please let us know their ages, and if
they have any sensitivities so we can accommodate these)
The Pond: This is where the wedding ceremony will
take place there will be hay bales, seats and blankets around the pond overlooking
the bridge. During the ceremony you will not be allowed alcohol in this area,
(Licensing law) but there will be tables with numbers on for you to leave your
drink and go back to afterwards (or you could stash it in bush!)
The Neolithic Monument: Guess who manifested a Neolithic site in their
garden?! We hope to have some story telling here and quieter music in the
intervals; open mic area, and generally a lovely place to sit and view the
garden.
Blue Tent (on the North Bank) : this will be the
champagne, chocolates and strawberry tent after the ceremony. We also hope to
have a whisky tasting session later in proceedings by a good friend from Islay.
White marque: This is where food will be served at
4.30 approximatly- the tent will be closed just prior to this for the set up.
There will be tables to sit at in the tent and around the garden- there is no
formal seating plan or time to eat- the food will be a buffet and hopefully not
everyone will rush at once! There will be an acoustic set by the amazing
Wildfire Sessions during food in the tent, and the band and dancing will be
here after the food and tables have been cleared away. There will be a hand washing
station in the Polytunnel.
Courtyard: the courtyard and conservatory by the
house will be somewhere quiet where you can escape the madness for a while.
This is also a place to drop off cards and presents if you have been so kind as
to bring them (totally not expected).
Garage: for some of the day this area will be
available for some gaming or films for keeping kids entertained. It will not be
available during the wedding, food time and late evening.
Toilets:there will be two toilets at the top of the
garden, and one at the bottom. If you require baby changing and cleaning let us
now when you arrive, and we will show you where you can go.
Bins: There will be multiple large bins around the
garden for compostible waste (including plates), recycling, and (hopefully very
little) rubbish- these should be obvious and will be near areas they are likely
to be used. Please try not to leave things around the garden (though we
appreciate it is easy to forget).
Here Be Dragons: As most of you know we only moved
into the house about 18 months ago, and when we arrived the 3 acre garden was
over run with gorse, brambles, and Devils Strawberries (gunera).
We have had an
incredibly journey over the last months creating a space for you to enjoy- but
inevitably we have not been able to clear the whole garden (and have had a lot
of trees down creating uneven ground). This means there are some areas which
may not be safe to walk in (mainly due to either rotting wood piles under
bracken, or stray bits of metal from old fencing). While you are welcome to
explore all the nooks we will put signage up in areas where caution is needed.
We have also not included on this list all the garden
features- we want you to wander and enjoy.
We will have signposts around the
garden highlighting features, some panels showing what views looks like when we
moved in, and some information panels as well explaining some of the historical
areas.
